Wheel Alignment

The toe-line adjustment measures how closely the wheels match each other when attached to the steering arm. It’s very important to make sure that they are symmetrical, as misalignment can make it much harder for the car to turn properly.

On most cars, the tyre’s camber is also adjustable. This is an important feature, as an incorrect camber can make driving very difficult or damage the tyres. Camber is called positive or negative, depending on whether the wheels are pointing out or in.

Negative camber makes it easier for the car to corner, and is used on some racing cars that need to turn at high speeds. However, this wears the inside of the tyres and is not practical for normal driving.

A positive camber will wear the outside of the tyres, and make it far more difficult to turn corners. Most cars have a neutral or very slight negative camber

At Headlands, we use laser alignment technology to adjust the positioning of the tyres and ensure they are properly aligned.

As a member of the Good Garage Scheme, you can be confident that the work your car needs will be carried out to the highest standards by highly trained technicians and covered by our 12,000 mile/12 month parts and labour warranty for extra peace of mind.
